Halloween has past
What did you wear?
A hero or witch?
A monster to fear?
Kids were dressed up
A few adults too
Collecting candy
After hearing a "Boo!"
Knocking on doors
Trick or treats
Poohs and Eeyores
Eating sweets
Jason and Elsa
Pumpkins and ghosts
Brag and gloat about
Who has the most
It was a great night
Everyone had fun
Until next year
Now Halloween is done

Brown
I am of working class Irish American stock. I have always lived in urban neighborhoods that were mixed among pale and beige but rarely brown. We were poor but tried our best to be less crude. There were only two occasions when the brown would visit my mostly pale address. The first occasion was on weekend mornings as evangelizing Jehovahs Witnesses who were saving souls while selling the Watchtower. Well dressed and well intentioned but uninvited and unwelcome.
Rarely if ever does anything good ever visit at the front door on a weekend morning.
The other occasions was on Halloween nights with kids trick or treating. I always loved the mixing of color when candy was distributed to costumed children. I cannot say that I feel the same with regards to the visiting religious cult. It has little to do with color and is more about context. Sadly we had few people of any colors visit tonight, neither for candy or proselytizing.

A Witch's Story!
My mama taught me
The power of the nature
She knew nature could heal
She told me all about
Potions I could make
Using some Catnip and Basil!
She told me how fish scales
Healed the worst of burns
She taught me how to
Spot the medical ferns
She asked me to put in
A spoonful of honey and salt
To her precious cauldrons!
I worked hard with her
Imbibing everything she gave
Adding a bit of my own
I became extremely adept!
Soon, I was on my own
In a tiny cottage inside the forest's depth!
The tired and weary
The young and old
The sick and wrinkly
The paupers empty, rich men full of gold
They all came to me
Their sufferings to me, they told!
I healed them all
I slowed their pain
I used my knowledge
Made the mad ones sane
Not much but satisfaction
Through it all was my gain!
But one day they all turned
Forgetting how I made them pain free
They came near my hut
And tied me up, to the old willow tree
They set me afire
As alive I was burnt, setting a new rule eerie!
A witch, A witch
They kept chanting
The times I healed them
They all kept forgetting
As my raw flesh burnt
In pain you could hear me screaming!
But none took pity, not one
They were as if possessed by Satan
Me they labelled evil, but
The blow to my heart was fatal
I dropped dead then
Parting from the world ungrateful!
Till this day they call me
A witch I was, they say
Wicked, evil, Ungodly!
Are all the labels they essay!
But I still don't know
For what fault, did I
Such a hefty price, pay!
Now you tell me, O reader!
Who was the baddest of all?
Me who healed the world,
Or the ones who made me fall!
If I was a real witch,
Wouldn't I devour them?
Wouldn't I still stand tall?

Rotting Pumpkin Jacks
Rotting pumpkin jacks, green with mold
Slumped sideways in deep depression
Sitting in puddles of putrid liquid juice
Fruit flies soar on this warm Halloween
Closet pagans in orange and purple socks
Spinning webs of synthetic spider webs
Plastic skeletons, ghouls and goblins rule
Worship those Danvers Witches in Salem
Meanwhile She warms planetary survival
The Wiccan's devoid of actual spirituality
Caring more of fashion cloaks of costume
The horny overweight and promiscuous
Need a dark night to be such slut drunks
Ignore the astrological Samhain bonfires
But Death cannot me tricked by comerce
Corpses of fruits reminds us of mortality

Only for it to come back
And haunt you as ghosts

For they did not die with Peace.

Haunted Hallows
At morn they dress all white,
Towering up so bright,
Sinlessly bringing light,
But little does anyone know the sins of the night...
When the world rests and all is calm,
They walk in the dark which to others does harm,
They lurk in the night performing a charm,
Making anyone believe the lies with so great an aplomb...
Then calling those rotten souls to destroy,
Then when they reach, they're treated as a toy,
They dance on fingers without being coy,
They don't realise their own silly sins, oh boy!
They turn into creatures of the dark,
Nails so long to scratch the bark,
Fangs extended with blood marks,
Pale eyes shinning with an evil spark!
Be careful from those deadly creatures,
They come with very attractive features,
Then consciousness doesn't come as a teacher,
They might right be in front of you as a preacher,
But actually a very, very dark creature...

One week away
Seven days away
And it's Halloween
Monsters and ghosts
That night will be seen
Candy to give out
By the neighbours
And candy to receive
The kids will eat later
Different parties thrown
The guests all dress up
They drink alcohol
Some until they throw up
An occasion for the kids
And adults take their part
Some say they're too old
But they're kids-at-heart
Chocolate bars and toffee
Get all kinds of sweet stuff
Until their bag is full , then
Go when they have enough
Take all the treats home
And sift through the lot
Eat all their favorites first
Ones they think are top notch
They'll be snacking for weeks
Candy bars and the sweets
They may skip a few dinners
From the treats they overeat
Then they will fall asleep
And wake up so happy
One night of travelling to
Get months worth of candy

A gloomy, dark, and brisk fall night
Makes monsters start to come to life
They aren't much like the stories claim
They are you and I, and what's his name
The cooler that the weather gets

Halloween is almost here
Trick or treating is near
Costumes and make up
Everyone gets to dress up
Filling sacks full of candy
A wagon would be handy
Walking from door to door
Screaming "we want more!"
Parties all night in some places
Drinking shots followed by chasers
The pumpkin and spice smell
And the pies taste so swell
To escape one day from the grind
On Halloweeen it's a great time

Horror Story
The chains start to shake, while the walls begin to shrink. I shake my legs loose. The chains refuse to let me be free. As I'm grabbing the chains with my hands, screaming with tears. Sweat drenching down my face. Finally the chains break open. I gain strength and balance into my feet, as I start to run down a long deep hallway. I am set free, but freedom is another price I need to pay.
As I'm running down this hall, it has seems to not has ended or even shows signs of the next room. I hope for a door. Is it even worth running? Do I stop running? I keep running, full speed as if something was chasing me. As my feet hit the floor, the more I realize that not piece of cloth is on me. Hair in the wind. Air breathing onto my torso.
I collapse.
Lower right side of my rib cage is in flame. As I whine and whimper in pain. I feel so faint, as if something or someone has stabbed me.
I should've stayed home today.

October thirty first
Is a wonderful sight
Kids wear costumes
And travel out at night
Knocking on doors
Through the neighborhood
Chanting trick or treat
Hoping for sugary goods
Candies upon candies
All the sweets and treats
They carry a giant bag
For everything they will eat
When it begins getting late
The parents take them home
Sort through the treasure
Their joyfulness can be shown
They have plenty of snacks
For weeks that will come
Halloween night is over
And everyone had some fun
Halloween is a month away but I couldn't wait
