    The clouds are on fire
Yet the moon bears no light
    A naggling tune
    Bespeaks my dire plight
There's a sword in my soul
    For which I must fight
    And Jesus ain't comin' tonight
    A thought in my head
    Drones on like a hymn
    Lost moments in time
    All lead back to him
    It's high time to set
All my wrongs back to right
    But Jesus ain't coming tonight
With a prayer in my heart
    And stars in my eyes
    And a satchel of grief
    That makes me capsize
    I desperately wonder
    Who turned out the light
    Lord, Jesus ain't coming tonight
    I lie here awaiting
    Divine intervention
    But the hour is nigh
    And I'm way past redemption
    The past has outdone me
    Long lost is the fight
And dear Jesus ain't coming tonight
    A basket of heartache
    Wrapped up in sorrow
    Desperately grieving
    A brighter tomorrow
    A world draped in darkness
    No angels in sight
    And Jesus ain't coming tonight
    Morbidly listless
    Achingly numb
    Bemoaning the nightmare
    My life has become
And I can't bear the thought
    I must go it alone
So with a grand show of effort
    And a menacing groan
    I harness my power
    What little is left
    I focus my mind
    No longer bereft
    I shine up my aura
    And center my chi
    I restore my Zen mindset
    And finally, I'm free
    I dust off my pride
    And patch up my wounds
With a hope and a prayer
I get out of this room
    Off in the distance
    Not a moment too soon
    As the clouds dissipate
By the light of the moon
    My faith is restored
As I behold a great sight
    Jesus IS coming tonight.

This is my submission for the daily challenge hosted by Mirakee, featuring today's word 'embers.' The words 'to all things, there's a season' are attributed to Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 of the King James bible. Blessings, and thank you for reading.

    by Carolyn Glackin
    Like salt to the wound
    Always bleeding you dry
    Parched like the desert
    No tears left to cry

    Like the smoldering embers
    In a dwindling fire
    Or the final remains
    Of a once true desire

Like the words to that love song
    You've long since forgotten
Now they leave your mouth dry
As if filled up with cotton

Like the plans you once made
    But they changed over time
    Now they're lost and disjointed
Like the poem that once rhymed

    Like the unanswered question
That still burns in your heart
But you try to ignore it
    'Cause it tears you apart

    Like the day without night
    And the night without end
    Or the relentless truth
    That won't let you pretend

Like the moth to the flame
    'Cause it just can't resist
Like the gal past her prime
    Who still hasn't been kissed

    Like the trees without leaves
    Or the birds without song
At a glance, things seem fine
    But you know something's wrong

    So you're wracking your brain
Trying to suss out the reason
    But it seems you've forgotten
To all things, there's a season

    You've been trying too hard
    You've been forcing things through
    Now you're anxious and restless
You don't know what to do

Take a breath, close your eyes
    Then get centered within
Now just let it all flow
    And start living again

    Be open, be willing
    Let life follow its course
And if you can do that
    You'll have little remorse

    Take time to enjoy
    With delight and dismay
    All the natural beauty
    The world's sending your way

    Honor your wisdom
    Follow your path
    Seek not revenge
    Leave out hatred and wrath

    Keep your eyes open wide
And your mind and heart too
And there won't be a limit
To the things you can do

Now I leave you in peace
    To consider each word
    And I offer my thanks
It's a gift to be heard.

This piece serves as my submission to my 'Flamin' Hot Friday' challenge, as well as the Mirakee daily challenge, featuring the word 'rain.' Thank you for reading!

In a cataclysm of fire, I met my true desire.
    ©Carolyn Glackin 4/11/2017

    by Carolyn Glackin
    In a cataclysm of desire
We were bound by eternal fire
    Temptation fanned the flames
    Driving passions ever higher
    In an inferno of intoxication
    Love was our true salvation
Though once lost, and wandering 'round
Through love, we two were found
    In a zephyrous, stormy din
    Our love story did begin
We are one with the wind
And the rain, and the fire
Burning bright, in a cataclysm of desire.

This is my submission for the wonderful #birdlove challenge hosted by @tejasveenagar, whom I'd like to thank very much for this opportunity, because I'm a longtime admirer of birds.

For the purposes of the challenge, members were asked to cultivate social awareness regarding the importance of saving our fine feathered friends' dwindling habitats. As always, thank you for reading.

    by Carolyn Glackin
    Oh cherubs of the skies
    Adorned with feathered wings
    So gracefully they fly!
    So beautifully they sing!

    They greet us every morning
    With birdsong while in flight
    And while adorning every tree
They seek shelter from the night

I'd tell you of the glory
    Of the American Bald Eagle
A white tailed bird of prey
    Who truly is so regal

Oh perhaps you'd like to hear
    Of the Indian Peafowl
The male is such a beauty
That he makes the ladies howl!

And methinks you'll want to know
    About the birdies of Australia
I should like to name them all
But there's so many, I might fail ya!

    A favorite that I'll mention
    Is a lovely passerine
    He's called the Fairywren
And he's the bluest bird I've seen!

I've spied a Warbler in the mountains
And a Sparrow in the prairie
But the Parrot in the jungle
    Is truly legendary!

They add color to our lives
    And music to our ears
    So please protect their homes
And they'll remain throughout the years.

    Cataclysmic, catastrophic
    Metaphysics, soul bionic
    Artificial, feigned and fused
    Simulated, truth abused
    Opportunists, feckless charmers
    And harmful harmers
A dime a dozen, devil may care
    A social gracer's savoir faire
    Ruthless rulings herd the sheep
    Awakened ones no longer sleep
    Thoughts gone crazy
    World gone wild
    We've spared the rod
But can we save the child?
    Dramatic dramas, role reversal
Time for action, no dress rehearsal
    The humble, thwarted
    The meek, mistreated
    The road to righteousness, deleted
    Skies now darkened
    Thoughts now dimmed
The faithful cling to psalms and hymns
    Annihilation, mass destruction
    Welcome to the grand induction
    Harried hearts and weary minds
    Fearful as the path unwinds
    Angelic souls, random kindness
    All the rest, preferring blindness
    Nations crumbling, Gaia grieving
    Stoic soldiers, disbelieving
    Iniquitous dens, housing heathens
    You've heard my rhymes
    Y'all want the reasons?
    The so-called superior, lauded elite
Living in mansions, ain't life sweet?
    Using dollars as weapons
    And jewels as tools
    Trying to trap us
    Thinking we'll play the fools
    Who's to blame though?
    Surely not Satan!
Humans did this, so don't be hatin'
    Who's ready to fix it?
    Who's ready to rise?
    Awaken, oh brethren!
Seek the truth through the lies!
    I know it's alarming
    I know it's unreal
'Cause see, you're all used to hurtin'
But are y'all ready to heal?
    The job's monumental
    We're talking epic proportions
But it's time to start changing
    All these social distortions
    We need all able bodies
    So please answer the call
    It's time we joined hands
All for one, one for all
    Together, we got this!
    We're our own salvation
So let's get this thing done
    Save every place, every nation
    And as hard to believe
    As this next sentence seems
When we're done with all that
We'll build the world of our dreams
    A world based on fairness
    Regardless of races
    Accepting of color
    Loving all faces
    Where genders are equal
    Income paid fairly
    No more social elites
Oh gee, we'll miss them dearly
I'm 'bout to wrap this thing up now
    Enough rhymin' and schemin'
    Who's ready? Who's with me?
    Let's manifest what we're dreamin'
    The present is daunting
    But the future stands bright
    I've spoken enough now
    Peace out y'all. Good night.

Hey magnificent Mirakeeans!! Happy Friday! With the weekend upon us, it seems like as good a time as any to promote self-love, eh? But then again, when isn't it the perfect time to do that, right? So, shoot me your 7 piece self-love word story (in English please), in the comment section, and I'll happily add it as soon as I'm able. As for the meaning of mine, it's intended to convey a healthy sense of self-preservation. If we truly love and respect our own self, we can then love and respect all others. ♥️

▪Self love sparkles, in sea of solitude.

▪Till infinity she will sing herself melodies!

▪Self love is watering your thirsty soul!

▪Love for oneself is difficult, but rewarding.

▪Be a limerant for thyself first.

▪She embraces imperfections , soaked in self love !!

▪"I'll love you always," said my reflection.

▪Self-love stands to you when nothing's left.

▪Self love - a panacea for wounded soul.

▪I love the one standing in front of me in the mirror..!!!

▪Self-love never tired fixing her broken pieces.

▪Became the light in my darkest hours.

▪"I love you," said my future self to me.

▪Young, wild, and free inside, she never stopped loving herself.

▪Self love - A necessity to conquer all obstacles and persevere.

▪Far away from hades, self-love never fades!

▪Self-love beautifies you both inside & outside ....

▪Self love, a forgotten emotion, now reinstated.

▪Self-love: YOU are your priority above ALL else.

▪Love, greatest emotion.. towards self, unrivaled devotion!!

▪Two souls connect when self-love connects!

▪Self-love - An art which quenches happiness and success.

▪Love is but a metathesis of self.

▪Falling insanely in love, with myself.

▪Cognition of forgiveness blooms through self-love.

▪The best ingredient of life, self-love.

▪I really really really need a mirror.

▪Loving you is just like loving myself.

▪SELF is the eternal beloved of LOVE.

▪"You deserve the best," spoke my worth.

    ▪ Self-love connects our mind with soul.

▪Embracing scars of imperfection alludes perfect self-love.

▪World is paradise when you love yourself.

▪Ornating my soul by dribbling love on self.

    Mumbo jumbo
    Fiddle faddle
    Words that make
    Bad moods skedaddle
    Silly sayings
    So amusing
    Some are goofy
    Some, confusing
    Jesting, joshing
    Holy smoking
    Jeez Louise!
    So thought provoking!
    Or how about
    A few tongue twisters?
    They're sure to please
    Your bros and sisters!
    Riotous, rollicking
    Wild uproars
    Watch and wait
    As they clamor for more!
    Melodious musings
    To soothe the mind
    To bring on peace
    As you unwind
    You can say them
    With a friend
    Try and use them
    Without end
    Me? I'm just
    This poem's
    See you later

This following is a piece that I penned back in December of 2016. Because I'm a big advocate of healthy levels self-love, self-worth, and self-respect, I like to repost it once a year; and since it contains today's word of the day 'flawless,' this seemed like the perfect day to repost it. Thank you for reading.

    by Carolyn Glackin
Some day, someone's going to come along and realize how amazing you are.
That's right, and one of these days, someone's gonna look you over from head to toe, from top to bottom, and from left to right; and that someone is gonna realize that every single part of you is FLAWLESS!
Some day SOON, someone's gonna take a look inside that head of yours and figure out that ALL of your thoughts are valid and meaningful and important.
And then, someone's gonna get acquainted with that HEART and SOUL of yours and realize how damn LOVABLE it all is and that the ground you walk upon and the space you dwell in is HOLY and SACRED.
Then finally, someone's gonna figure out that this whole time, right from the very beginning, you've been nothing but amazing and beautiful, awesome and intelligent, kind and creative, fabulous and fantastic, wild and wonderful, and precious and divine and so incredibly LOVED!!
And you know what? I really hope that SOMEONE is YOU. You've got to be your OWN someone FIRST! ♡

It recently occurred to me that I hadn't penned a dystopian, post-apocalyptic piece in a while; so here's one right now, featuring today's word of the day 'stranded.' Thank you for reading.

    by Carolyn Glackin
    Stranded, branded, reprimanded
A bitter truth, so raw and candid
    Falling, flailing, stumbling 'round
A desperate search for higher ground
Laid out low, full stop, no motion
Brilliant mind, yet nary a notion
    Citadels burning, monoliths falling
Pick up the phone child, destiny's calling
    Wayward and weary
    Timeworn and tattered
    Monstrous mosaic
    Shards are all shattered
    Head to the ground now
    Creepin' and crawlin'
    See how the mighty
    Have finally fallen
    Stalwart and stealthy
    Wealthy and wise
    But no one looks back
When you look in their eyes
    The times are a changin'
    There's a wild western wind
    And nobody cares
If you've lied or you've sinned
    The horror's begun now
    There's no turning back
    So hurry up son
'Fore it all fades to black
You'll be down on your knees
With a hope and a prayer
    Wondering how it all happened
    Screaming that it's not fair
    But don't beg for salvation
'Cause it's high time you knew
    The savior's right here child
    The hero is you.

In order to present us with opportunities for inner growth, life offers each of us many challenges. Though they may be difficult, they are not insurmountable, and we are more than capable and ready to face them, as well as rise above them, even if it doesn't seem that way. Try to embrace them fully. See them as a blessing rather than as a hindrance. Allow them to grow you and stretch you into the brightest and best version of you that you could possibly ever be. It may seem like quite a struggle now, but one day you'll look back on the difficult moments and you'll see how far you've come because of them. You'll realize that because of them, you are now stronger, more patient, kinder, more self-assured, and ready for anything. Then you'll have a profound sense of gratitude for each little hurdle that comes your way, knowing that when you get to the other side of it, you get to meet the next best version of yourself; and meanwhile, you're already a beautiful and amazing being! Keep on shining. Offer only kindness. Teach only love. Forgive and move on. Live freely. And keep jumping those hurdles!

    Haunted by the cries
    Of dying flowers
    I sought shelter
    From their woesome
    Doleful pain
    But the solace
    That I needed
    Did evade me
    In the penumbra
    Of the moon
    Dispersed by rain
    Reticent was I
    To tell this tale
    Of flowers who
    By summer's end
    Are doomed
    Thus their endless
    Shrieks of fear
    Grew ever louder
    While in my horror
    Only silence bloomed
    Pray thee tell me
    What to do
    When once confronted
    With a tragedy
    Of sorrow such as this
    Doomed was I
    Because I was an empath
    To bear the pain
    Of what once had
    Brought such bliss
    Pushed beyond a threshold
    I knew not of
    I grew stronger
    Through the sadness
    I'd endured
    And perhaps it is
    A little bit ironic
    That in their death
    Much beauty still is heard
Finally, I saw the bigger picture
    That although alas
    I suffer with their cries
    What once I thought
    Had marked their very end
    Instead shall in the springtime
    Bloom and rise.

    Emotions are meant
    To make us feel
    They guide us
    And they help us heal
    They aren't always pleasant
    But they're seldom wrong
    Acknowledge them
    So they can move along.
    ©Carolyn Glackin 6/17/19

    by Carolyn Glackin
No emotion is inherently good or evil; rather, all emotions are teachers that have intrinsic value and unlimited learning potential. Through our emotions, we learn what to do as well as what not to do. They are meant to guide us, but not to dictate our whole lives. Again, there are no 'bad' or 'wrong' emotions, so long as we allow them to guide us in the right way of thinking, behaving, and conducting ourselves. A way that honors and respects all people, including ourselves, and harms no one.
Jealousy, for example, is a passive emotion. It's essentially inactive and counterproductive; UNLESS, you allow it to spur you on to positive action. Actions such as the planning and attaining of whatever it is that you're jealous of.
If you put all of your effort into accomplishing or attaining whatever it is, and it still doesn't come to fruition, be willing to consider the possibility that whatever it is, it's not part of your life's plan. That is not a sign of failure! It's a sign of a new possibility! The possibility of something that's not only meant for you, but also far better suited to you and your current life situation.
It may take some time (patience is always key in these matters), as well as a willingness to 'go with the flow,' and the ability to surrender to what's in your highest good, rather than trying to control things based on what you think you want; but rest assured, your good awaits you.
Take care not to micromanage how or when it'll arrive, and avoid prejudging the process or burying it under a deluge of preconceived notions or false expectations. Time, space, humility, and openness are vital and necessary so as to allow the Universe to deliver your good to you, unhindered and without delay.
Admittedly, if you're stubborn and controlling by nature, making those changes and shifts in perception will undoubtedly prove to be very challenging; however, if the outcome is the attainment of all the good that awaits you, isn't it worth the Herculean effort?!
Not only is IT worth it, but YOU are worth it. So leave jealousy aside. Focus on being genuinely happy for the accomplishments and achievements of others. Then, one day soon, they'll be celebrating your accomplishments and achievements with you.

A huge thank you for reading. ❤

    Poem: "Fourth Novel"

Wishes, dozens of messages congratulating me,
Came on my phone as I switched it on.
It's been long, since I have last switched on my mobile.
The late night struggles, the morning madness
All were for completing my latest novel.
    Now that it's all done,
I feel myself to be ten feet tall
And granted with a bulletproof cover
To protect myself from every trolls and criticisms
Which I might face in future.

    Not every author faces such
But I am different after all
Having back to back three novels a blunder

    "Fourth Novel"

Wishes, dozens of messages congratulating me,
Came on my phone as I switched it on.
It's been long, since I have last switched on my mobile.
The late night struggles, the morning madness
All were for completing my latest novel.
    Now that it's all done,
I feel myself to be ten feet tall
And granted with a bulletproof cover
To protect myself from every trolls and criticisms
Which I might face in future.

    Not every author faces such
But I am different after all
Having back to back three novels a blunder
    Faith was completely surrendered.

Fourth novel came as a surprise to all
Which was finally accepted by everyone
Copies were sold like never before
    Criticisms and trolls too stopped
Good wishes starting reaching my corner
Which made me feel ten feet tall and bulletproof everytime.

Occasionally I like to write my own lyrics to a song that already exists. It's challenging, but a lot of fun too. This is a lyrical rewrite I've penned for a song written and performed by the American country singer/songwriter Travis Tritt. The words '10 feet tall and bulletproof' are credited solely to Travis Tritt. All other words/lyrics are my own. Thank you for reading.

    To whom it may concern...

    by Carolyn Glackin
If you had the chance to meet me
Then maybe you'd know the truth
That I'm not ten feet tall
    Nor am I bulletproof
I'm not made out of stone
Nor was I forged from steel
Thus when you set out to hurt me
    The hurtin' hurts for real
Now I never did you no wrong
Heck, I don't even know your name
    And I don't know what you're after
And maybe this is some kind of game
But the hatred you sent my way
Will be countered by peace from me
And I wish no harm upon you
So let's set one another free
    You attacked my reputation
You tried to degrade my name
I wish that I understood why
Because I'm not the one to blame
    The accusations you made
Don't carry a shred of truth
But my friend, the pain is quite real
'Cause I'm not 10 feet tall or bulletproof
    Peace be with you.

Through this word of the day piece (featuring the word 'dormant,' as provided by Mirakee), I've attempted to depict what a soul might experience in those first few moments post-mortem. Thank you for reading.

    by Carolyn Glackin
And off I go while loved ones weep
    What life hath sown
    Now death shall reap
And there ahead, a golden light
That draws me near, in dark of night
My body, dormant; my spirit, free
    I'm beckoned by eternity
The earthly life, no longer mine
I now return to the Divine
As memories flood and fill my mind
I think of those I leave behind
    Precious moments and timeless love
Shall raise me up, beyond, above
The dawn awaits, thus I must go
    My dear ones, please!
    I hope you know!
That every moment, great and small
I now take with me, one and all
And in my heart a light shall burn
For all I lived, and loved, and learned
The glow of it shall not grow dim
Not by wick, or trick, or whim
And there ahead, through heaven's door
    I'll wait for you forevermore
    Goodbye at last. Adieu, adieu!
Remember me, as I will you.

Oh but how I was GONE WITH THE WIND
As I listened to THE SOUND OF MUSIC
My LOVELY BONES swooned at the sounds and sights in the eventide of such a celestial night
I sat and pondered the age old question: FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS
And searched for THE FAULT IN OUR STARS
But upon reaching no conclusion, I realized that the entire universe is our BELOVED LOVE STORY
And rather than question it, I would embrace it wholly and go with the flow, just as A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT
And so it was that I became one with the universe and allowed it to work its wonders on me for all time.

It occurs to me that in many ways, verbal warfare is more nefarious than physical warfare. It creates battle wounds that although invisible to the naked eye, are all too real to the recipient.
It's also a given that throughout life, there are going to be people that we aren't well suited for. In other words, for one reason or another, either we aren't fond of them or they aren't fond of us. That's perfectly okay. In fact, it's normal and to be expected.
What matters most of all perhaps, is the way that we handle such situations. It's easy to start mudslinging, finding fault, blaming and shaming, belittling, and/or hurling about the occasional defamatory remark; but do we really want to take that road knowing that it leads to two casualties of war, rather than one?
After all, there are no winners in verbal warfare. Nobody comes out of it feeling victorious, satisfied, triumphant, or unscathed. There's no end in sight either, as the original attack leads to a counterattack, and then another attack, and so on.
So, how about we avoid that path altogether and instead forge a path of peace; even if the other individual is doing the opposite. Because let's face it, life turns people upside down. It shakes them every which way but loose. It turns them into cynics, skeptics, and suspicious, jaded pessimists who can scarcely remember what love is, much less what it looks like. But you can remember for them, can't you? You can model it, exemplify it, share it, offer it, and BE IT, right smack dab in the midst of unwarranted character attacks, and outright lies told in your name. Because I'm telling you, my friends, the person doing that does not need more of the same. He or she does not need a mirror of the villain they're currently portraying. That's only temporary, and that isn't their truth. It's just that they've forgotten. You can show them though. You can remind them. By having the strength of character to wave the white flag, put your ego aside, call off the cavalry, and end the war, you can remind them. All you have to do is BE who you are, stand in your Light, forge a path to peace, and let that alone serve as your proof; that love always was, is now, and forever shall be the only truth. Remind them.

About the image piece: I wrote the image piece last March. I felt compelled to repost it with the caption piece that I wrote today. Please do remove yourself from toxic individuals whenever possible. You can be a model of love from afar.

To the genuine readers out there, who take the time to read and appreciate my work, your value is priceless and beyond compare. Heartfelt thanks to you. ♥️

    If You steal my words
    I hope you know
    You've also stolen
    A piece of my soul.

    Dear Carolyn mam,
I guess it's the perfect time to post this, I wonder if you even remember the conversation we had on this, that day.
    Yours faithfully.

    Say no to Plagiarism!

    I lay with my ink,
    the feelings of my heart.
    And if you steal it,
    I hope you know,
you steal a piece of my charm,
    Keep scratching it off,
One day I'll only be left with
    bones and harms.
And so here on my knees,
I request you to not be
the reason of my barren farm!
