From Christmas 2018. I stepped into a cloud of midges (chironomids, non-biting) during an early morning walk. Felt like I was gatecrashing a party. It is a privilege to find insects during our UK winter and mesmerising to watch their gregarious courtship dances.
teasel_vente@lovenotes_from_carolyn I love the way pigeons are 'different' from most other birds: when it rains, they take a shower when other birds cower; and the feral pigeons nest all year round in the least likely of places! It must be that they're more intelligent than we give them credit for.
lovenotes_from_carolynI think you must be right about their underrated intelligence. Fascinating birds indeed!
