To rise like the
Morning sun,
On my neglected dreams,
To shake off
The remnants of fear
That still cling to my
Heart,
To unwrap the
Magic still sleeping
In my bones,
To let the floodgates
Break apart, as my passion
Pours like wildfire into
The furnace that is my heart,
To put on my crown
As I greet the day,
Let the world know,
I bid farewell to the
Shipwreck of the past,
I am not who I was yesterday,
They put me through fire,
Thinking I was a witch,
But look, how
From the ashes,
This Phoenix has risen again.

She stood under the dome of stars,
By the gushing waters of the black river,
Lit only by the filtered moonlight,
Closing her eyes,
She felt the cool breeze brush across her face, almost feeling weightless,
Momentarily forgetting about the ocean weighing her down,
The ocean that had filled up every element of her being,
The ocean that pulled her down every time she tried to get up,
The ocean that drowned every moment of joy she experienced,
She looked down at the currents,
Watching the water flow undeterred past every obstacle,
Ahh, how she wished to imitate its power!
Before she knew it, her walls collapsed, and out poured the tears,
As they disappeared into the river below she saw flashes of
Every heartbreak, every betrayal and every failure that plagued her,
And she watched them disappear into the darkness of the night,
Feeling the weight of the ocean flowing off of her,
She stood there, watching,
Transfixed, losing track of time,
Suddenly, the reflection beneath changed,
Tears and regret were replaced by determination and a smile,
Surprised, she looked up and saw a blue river,
Lit by the dawning rays of the sun,
Looking back down at the new reflection,
She smiled as
She felt the warming rays of the sun,
She smiled as
She saw the new image of hope and strength,
She smiled as
She stared back at herself..

Beginnings
I'm fleeting around the house,
Waving my blood-soaked pyjama
Sleeves as if nothing has happened.
As if didn't murder a pomegranate
On the kitchen counter precisely 2 hours ago.
I don't know what got into me-maybe i wanted to follow persephone, or maybe i got tired of the white. White on my sleeves and blue under my eyes and violet on my fingernails. Maybe I wanted to crawl back in, or maybe I wanted to move on.
Either way, the kitchen is sprayed in an eager pink, and from this moment on,
I'm no longer wallowing. I don't know which way going to fly out yet,
But I know I'm leaving the floors behind.

Happy Place
A love affair that started
with an unspoken pact.
I would watch
and you would act.
Such drama! Such heroism!
And writ so large. No bigger
screen than the one in my head.
Eyes and smiles the trigger,
the ignition, the tinderbox.
An extended hand, an invitation -
"Come with us, you're welcome."
Mouth agape, eyes transfixed,
mesmerised, struck dumb.
Lost in bliss, lost in their world,
I was erased, removed, effaced.
I had travelled to the sublime,
I had found my happy place.
