Hopelessly Devoted
She dances rhythmically to her own beat, with a matching smile. The moonlight of the night sky shimmering. It was the only light in her dark room. She took a sniff of the smell of lilacs in small pots that laid outside at the stool of her open window.
Serenity. Peace.
It gave her that. And for a long time of sacrificing her love for someone who she wasn't certain would give it back. The memory made her sigh. Her mom was right. She deserved better. She had been waiting beside her childhood bestfriend for years. You could even go further as when they were still wearing their diapers.
She watched hopelessly as the man she loved fall in love with a girl who had no intention of loving him back, yet she supported him all the way.
She loved him.
Yes, loved.
Though it was hard, that verb, that feeling had to be in its past tense. She couldn't but she had, she should, she ought to move on.
