you watched me make tea for you
and you stood next to me
while the children played
while talking of things we both loved talking about
real estate, food, tourist places
you knew what you were going to do to us
but you didn't let on
and you sat there
listening to me ramble on
like a fool
about my little world
that had only me and you
and no one else
in which we didn't have to steal seconds and minutes from time
to touch each other
and I sat there asking you when we would meet again
and you replied by putting your mouth on mine
whispering 'i love you' into my ear
and I trembled and you held me
but you never let on that
you would leave me like this
stranded
in the middle of
nowhere.

of the last bird,
i hesitate
there is something in this
empty cage that never
gets released.
i tell them not to shut the door of this,
i beg them, don't, someone still needs to be freed.
see there, can you see her
she is trapped,
crying to be let out
they don't understand.
they refuse to listen.
they say it's all in my head.
but, you, you can see her can't you?
when you look at me, you can see her, can't you?
who is she, you ask
come sit, listen
there was once a girl
who loved life
one day with whiskey on her breath and stars in her hair
she kissed a guy who told her she was wild and he would tame her
tame her he did
so that now when she wants to sing
no sound would come out of her throat
tame her he did
so that now when she talks
she measures her words and tone and sentences
tame her he did
so that now when she dances,
she does so unseen
tame her he did
so that now she no longer remembers
what it is like
to run with the wind in her face
and whiskey on her breath and stars in her hair
there was once a girl who was wild and free
and now she sits in a cage
gasping for air

Wrecking Ball
Love doesn't come with a warning,
It comes either loud and fast or soft and slow,
They never tell you,
"Be careful how you love,
The depth of your love,
Could be the depth of your sorrow".
Love and Trust are intertwined.
One cannot possibly exist without the other.
Once trust is broken,
Love can fail to survive,
Once trust is broken,
Love is replaced by fear,
Fear to love,
Fear of being loved,
Fear of being shattered again,
Fear of trusting anyone.
Love should come with a warning,
"Possible Wrecking Ball,
