Distant
I feel distant from my childhood as I grow older,
But not from its memories,
I feel distant from my past self as I go forward,
But not from its misery,
I feel distant from my old friends as I go further in life,
But I can't find anyone to replace them they are still the best in my memories,
I feel distant from my soul sometimes,
But it's just a phase that I can pass or survive anyway,
It's just from time to time you need to be distant from a lot of things and figure out what can you keep with you or within your memories.

Postcards
We hold onto distant memories
keep them like postcards
turned up at the corners
tuck them into mirror frames
and watch them slowly fade.
We hold onto distant memories
preserve them in jam jars
and store them on shelves
for when we might need them
those nights when sleep evades us.
We hold onto distant memories
flying in the sky like pastel kites
on the end of long strings
they swoop and dive
and carry on seasonal winds.
We hold onto distant memories
that gently flirt with us
sitting just beyond reach
on recollection's grainy shore
washing away with an aging tide.
We hold onto distant memories
that get carried away slowly
they wave like passengers
on departing cruise liners
bound for new adventures.
We hold on -
until finally we let go.
And we watch them disappear
over the far horizon.

But there was a woman named joy, from Australia, that i was close with for awhile and i wrote an ode to, ill post it and tag you, just in case, we were friends in a different light. But regardless, i care for this Joy, YOU aaand your writing, right here, write now!! I was just terribly curious.. one thing i will say, is that Joy, in that life, walked me through chemotherapy and im not sure I'd be a poet about to put out a book, alive still, if it wasn't for her. Thank you at least for bringing up such beautiful memories!!

That different years bear different offers

And my fears swallowed the sun

Crystal clear view
But the focus will not stay

But seems like a force field
Invisible but keeps us severed
At times your eyes are inviting
At the same time say beware
Telling me to come inside
Then saying you're not prepared
Attracted like two magnets
Between a transparent wall
Wanting to come together
But then things begin to stall
The signs say stop and go
On a road that twists and turns
Hoping it leads to you at the end
Because my heart it really burns

Brain Rot
Theirs rot in my skull,
Rattling around.
When you die,
Your brain shrivels up,
A little wad inside your skull.
Somtimes I shake my head,
I feel that little wad,
Coming loose,
From behind sharp edges.
My brain feels dry,
Nothing can fix it.
So I get high,
And try to dismiss it.
One day,
I'll tilt my head to listen,
And out from my ears,
My little brain will fall.
Sad and shriveled,
Devoid of thought,
All sustenance gone.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about you
I’ve been moving on in life and I heard you have to
I’ve been swimming in perfection and trying to believe
That the decision I made was right for me
I still remember those nights where we’d sit and count the stars
Where you etched your fingers on my heart
I remember the times we’d shared
Even when I’m with someone else, I still care
Now I’m haunted by your aura
You would hold me in your arms and we’d talk about things that didn’t matter
Now that I lay here and think about it, it makes me even sadder
To think we could’ve been more
But in every chapter there’s something different to store
Haunted by your smile, I still would like to see it once in a while
Even as I try to forget you, you reappear in my life
