He was tired but patient to listen to my story,
I never took out time to walk up to him.
For him my fall was his shortcoming,
My loss was his mistake,
My tears, his heartbreak,
But my success never his compliment.
Now I acknowledge his presence,
But in vain, pillars are digged of his absence.
His beliefs were true, mine a mistake.
His smile is a past cause my rage was fake,
His eyes a map, mine a distant place,
His body a temple, mine nothing more than a grave.

First ride with my Dad
A colorful evening with Rayleigh scatter,
And my Dad all set to flatter.
He had just got his driving license few days back,
And hence he was ready to show off his knack.
He insisted me to take a ride ,
I had no choice but to agree because I had no where to hide.
Color of the scooter was turquoise blue,
Where were we heading, I had no clue.
He keyed in ignition and turned it on,
squeezed the brake handle and kicked the start peg to move on.
He raced the scooter as if it was a flight,
I was nervous hence I held him tight.
But as the cool wind flew through my hair ,
And with roads clean and clear; I had nothing to fear.
After a while he was driving uphill
and it also started to drizzle.
With a bang , the scooter hit a rock
We fell down with utter shock.
Terrified by my bleed and cry ,
Dad decided to pause his crazy try.
Later as time passed by he became pro,
But my first ride with him was special with all the flaws.

आज फिर पलकों पर आँसू हैं
आज फिर साँसें बेक़ाबू हैं
सब यादें सिमट कर सामने से गुजरी जो
वही आह बन के सीने में शामिल हैं
आज फिर गले से लगा लो ना
आज फिर गोद में उठा लो ना
ना करूंगा अब ज़िद कोई यकीनन
तुमसे एक बार हंस कर तुम बुला लो ना
अब जब नहीं हैं तुम्हारे संग में हम
आज सर पर हाथ को भी तरसे हम
साथ थे जब तुम हौसले थे ज़िंदगी में
मगर आज तेरे साथ को भी तरसे हम
काश इन फ़ासलों को मिटा सकता में
काश खुदा के घर से तुमको वापस ला सकता
मैं कितना प्यार है तुमसे ये जता सकता
मैं कितनी तुम्हारी ज़रूरत है बता सकता में
आज फिर पलकों पर आँसू हैं
आज फिर साँसें बेक़ाबू हैं

Picture
I was going to zip my luggage when I noticed a photograph, one of my most prized possessions. It was a young girl and an elderly gentleman. In this photograph, they are both laughing and smiling. But, all of a sudden, I put the photo back in my bag because the memories were killing me once more. It brought up unpleasant memories for me because it was given to me by my father.
He left me crying and pleading for him to return. But he still abandoned me.

Chest getting tighter
why don't I feel any lighter
This is where I go to escape
When I am tired of being a fighter
I have submerged my desires under water,
did I learn this from my father
The father never there to applaud her
Absent father not there to walk her to the altar
He couldn't possibly be the one who taught her
Be there for your daughter
teach her how to breathe
show her how to be free
Teach her to be happy
Not to drown in misery
Tell her she is beautiful and radiant
reassure her there's no limit to who she can be
So she doesn't find her self lost at sea
I see the light getting brighter
I am still a fighter
My body finally feeling lighter
always been determined and never gone out
I will stand and fight
Too much at stake to forfeit now
I will surely be alright

My father's pillow
Once I got the chance to sleep with my head on my father's pillow. It seemed like that pillow wanted to share something with me. Finally, after many arguments, I agreed to have a conversation with it. And then, it took me to the world of my father, the one that was completely different from mine. It got more thorns than flowers, full of obstacles. Yet he was carrying the strongest of all the smiles. He was scared but confident. I saw him picking the rare flowers for us. He was the only tree, among those flowers and thorns, the strongest of them, protecting us from the hard sunlight. After returning, I knew not only he but also his pillow that seemed lightest and thinnest is the hardest, the strongest, and the heaviest!
Thank you, Papa, for always removing the thorns from our way.

How do they look exactly the same...?
Her hands were soñ and small. Just like she used to have when she was young, He thought, holding her fingers. They were sitting on the patio steps playing with chalk. She was making silly drawings and blabbering in her own language. He was clueless about what she was saying, nonetheless it was music to his ears.
He had held her when she was first born. At that moment, now her grandfather thought about holding her mom in his arms. He could tell the difference. His granddaughter is way more beautiful than her mom.
He remembers. He thought he could never hold his daughter in his arms again when she got married. He could never feed her; never teach her; never play with her again. He thought his chance was over. It feels like I’ve got a second chance, he smiled down at his granddaughter.
“Dadadada....” she poked him and showed him her scribbles. It was art to his eyes. “What is it? What did you draw for this old man?” he asked. “B” she giggled. He laughed at the toddler who forgets ‘A’ and jumps ‘B’ always. “ It looks good. Now write AAAAAA” he dragged. “BBBBBB” she dragged and scribbled again. He chuckled at her antics and looked up...
