I think there's a monster
Hiding in my closet
I think there's a monster
Underneath my bed
I think there's a monster
Waiting in the darkness
Or maybe the monster
Is just in my head
When I was younger
I was scared of the monsters
Hiding in my closet
With my clothes and my boots
But now that I'm older
And wiser and taller
I realise the monsters
Are the ones wearing suits

The rain fell
I coul hear the drips
As they bounced off
The tin roof
Of my shed
Drip... Drip... Drip
It made my bed
Somehow seem warmer

Is it a spider?

Some days I wear a mask
Just to get through the day
So you can't see the pain in my face
How tired I am with life
And the repetitive tasks

Like No Face in Studio Ghibli

I thought this prompt was rather tricky
Wrote a poem and include the word 'Tiki'
I had no clue what I would write
I went to bed and thought all night
So instead this poem is about the writing
And how the words in my head are constantly fighting
About the struggle of writing rhyme
And how it can take up your time
You can take lots of time or just a bit
To try to make that 'Tiki' fit

Monkey sitting in the tree

Do you think we're a disgrace?
We say that we are cleverer than you
And yet we do the things we do
We cut down trees we need to breathe
And other things that are hard to believe

And make the forests go away

Korptober Day 14: Pirate
Why do we glorify pirates?
When I was a kid I thought they were the good guys
At one point I wanted to be one
But as I've grown up
I've realised
That the REAL pirates
All wear suits
And rarely have patches
And wooden legs
And parrots
But housing portfolios
And flash cars
And take from the poor not the rich.....
I don't want to be a pirate any more
I wish there were no pirates....

Korptober Day 13: Rodent
Something has been nibbling
At the things in my shed
A naughty little rodent
Trying to make it's bed
Its nibbled at some boxes
And at the carpet too
But I don't wish it any harm
I don't know what to do
I hope we can live in harmony
And it doesn't destroy too much
But it seems to be leaving a trail
With whatever it comes into touch
I hope the rodents happy
Lying in its bed
And I hope it got what it needed
And stays out of my shed
