The Loser is at your beck and call
The Loser takes care of your kids
The Loser takes the bull and all
Skinned and pulled along the skids
The Loser once had spirit, a gift to transpire
The Loser is stifled and mute have lost their fire
The Loser feels out of it, soul hanging off skin
The Loser carries a feeling of dying within
The Loser is aware of life going about
The Loser senses the ticks of time running out
The Loser keeps words secret like a token
The Loser shows strength to hide their broken

I didn't even want to
Yet I end up thinking about you
Told myself to give up
Sleep and stop looking above
Yet I still want to dream about you
Maybe I miss the chills
The hype and thrills
The excitement when you're there
Get embarrassed and not be myself
Wished I were somewhere else
When I do those stupid dares
Because though I know
That if I stay here, you'll go
I'd still keep you in my mind til night
But lately it seems hard
To see sparks in the dark
Maybe I missed my flight
I used to dream out loud
No question who it was about
Now I can no longer see you
Maybe it's just time
Never yours, never mine
Help me, then, not to think about you

HUES
The silver lining of the cloud,
The golden locks on forehead crowd.
The lavenders in summer bloom,
The rainbows doom.
The burnt sienna of the crust,
The irons rust.
The grapes in the vine,
The dusk with a pint of red wine.
The satin whites where we roll,
Where reign of feelings lose control.
Some hues of nature are to be reminisced with a soft touch beside on the darkest hours of night where you and me ignite.

OUR STRUGGLES
Nocturnal under the dazzling stars,
The walkways and trees are witness to the TO and FRO of thousands footsteps.
The halls in which classes, tests and examinations where held will bear witness to our struggles.
Walls of the hostel knows it all,
Sincere cries of a shattered heart and prayers more than a place of worship will.
You will puzzle about how we struggle day and night,
How we trudge and traipse under the searing sun.
Discomfort overpowering,
The Strain baffling.
Setting aside all luxuries,
Leaving our comfort zone seeking to grow,
Confession were heard,
Feebleness were known,
Life in the campus has been a rollercoaster of emotion.

If only
If only our parents won't force us to marry someone we don't love,and bound us to a relationship that will be the end of us.
If only when we go back home by ourselves they should hear us and not send us back with an apology.
If only our parents will not return us back to our husband's house when they send us back.
If only our parents won't ask us to be patient and endure all torture.
If only they will fight for our rights,if only our parents will hear both sides before concluding and support them.
If only our rights to earn through work was not violated by a jealous partner also lazy, leaving us to take care of things we're not obliged to.
If only rules weren't made for the females, and for the males also need to have a line drawn,for all lines are drawn except when a man crosses and it is not even considered Crossing the line.
If only i don't have to lose my job to take care of a family I did not make all by myself.
If only it wasn't pain that defines a woman, period pains ,the screams of childbirth,the pride of a pregnant woman pushing her belly forth in the market place,can never compare to the unappreciated pride of one with a PHD,childless.
If only,one that marries a rich man being employed or not,is not regarded a gold digger.
If only when they divorce us our parents welcome us back home with open arms and force us not into remarrying.
If only we are not the only ones flawed, but we both are,if only the stigmatization of a broken marriage is not always the fault of a woman but the man as well.
If only we realize it is not about the economy, religion or equal rights, but equality among all individuals as one.
If only our Arewa parents had reflect and abide by the teachings of the Prophet,then we wouldn't have reached here.
