I wish there was a spectator to our lives who could capture each day of our lives as we go through it. We don't wish to look back as we always have to keep moving forward, yet sometimes we don't realize how far we've come or where we've reached in the process. Maybe it doesn't make sense today, but perhaps it will one day. If only there was a canvas or something where our journeys get captured so that one day when we look at it, we realize how far we've come and grown.
In this verse, the lonely figure has set some milestones for herself, whether out of reach or not can't be said, but there is a feeling of not feeling fulfilled or accomplished that she gets. As her spectator, I'd say it's not true for she has come far. She doesn't realize it because she doesn't look back. Even though her quest was about her dreams, yet it feels now her quest has become about feeling fulfilled and complete and happy.

A lonely figure looking out at distant lands

Loneliness, strength, hope, sadness with a teeny sliver of relief to have made it so far.
Wishing she had made it to the next mile,
Wishing she could feel complete again.
