Always absolutely adored a little alliteration.

"Faeries" is an alternative way of spelling "fairies." ‍♀️

    Mystical mavens mindfully musing
    Chortling cherubim cheerily cruising
    Daring daredevils do devilish deeds
    Chirpy churchgoers counting creeds
    Ghostly ghouls gregariously grin
Wizened warlocks wage war and win
    Fantastical faeries fancifully fly
    Several seraphim soulfully sigh
    Numerous nymphs nestle all night

It's a glaring injustice in this world that we don't offer the males of our species the same support and healing that we offer to female survivors of rape and sexual assault. I'm here to shine the light of awareness on this matter, in hopes that it may soon change for the better. No one should suffer the agony of such a heavy burden alone. NO ONE. And when proper support and healing are provided, in the place of the victim stands a victor. Let's give everyone that same opportunity. Thank you for reading.

    A violator came
And advanced on a young son
    He then rendered him immobile
    And be-stilled his mortal tongue

    A violator came
And reigned terror on his prey
    The damage he inflicted
    Still exists in present day

    A violator came
And he took all he could take
    Did he ever even notice
All the damage in his wake?

    A violator came
And two parents hearts were broken
For their son let two years pass
Before a word of this was spoken

    Fear and anger came
    And agony untold
    Would he be ok again?
    What would his future hold?

    The path to wellness came
With both parents at his side
    No longer lost and broken
    No longer would he hide

    Forgiveness finally came
    For it must be understood
    That a violator's life
Could not have been too good

    Yes, a violator came
But he's not here any longer
And because of what he did
The family's bond is now much stronger

A new life course was set
    Gone away, those unheard screams
And the boy, who faced so much
Was finally free to chase his dreams.

This is my submission to the #cees_doors challenge. It's a lyrical rewrite of a song called "The Gambler," performed by Kenny Rogers back in the late 1970's. Using my own words, I've written it to the tune of that song. Thank you for reading.

On a long and winding road
    Through the journey of existence
    I met a fellow traveler
Whom I walked with for a while

    He wasn't one for talking
    And I noticed his resistance
    So instead of conversation
I simply offered him a smile

Soon the day grew into nighttime
And the world fell dark around us
    All was still and silent
'Cept the movement of our feet

    The traveler looked my way
Then he told me his life story
    And he said his circumstances
Left him feeling dead and beat

When he'd said what needed sayin'
He paused for just a moment
Then again he looked my way
And said that I'd been awfully nice

He was grateful that I'd listened
But his soul was dreadful weary
    And in his desperation
    He requested my advice

    I said "Friend, I ain't no expert
    I'm just a fellow traveler
But I can see how bad you're hurtin'
So I'll tell you what I know"

"In life there's lots of choices
I think of 'em as doorways
And when it comes to doors
You gotta know which way to go"

You've got to know when to open 'em
And know when to close 'em
    Know when to turn away
And when to bolt them shut

And at times when you're uncertain
    You gotta trust your instincts
You gotta look deep down within
And always listen to your gut

    You see, every traveler knows
    That life ain't ever easy
But when we don't trust our wisdom
We got troubles all the more

Because all doors lead to hell
And all doors lead to heaven
    It's all about perspective
It really ain't about the door

    The traveler looked bewildered
And as he took in all I'd told him
    He was thanking me profusely
For which I said there was no need

We stopped and slept a while
And woke up with the sunshine
The traveler looked straight at me
And said "It's time I take the lead"

He said I'd taught him many lessons
And it was time to change directions
He knew his worth and purpose
And that his soul was finally free

Then he warmly shook my hand
    And the traveler, he departed
    On the journey of existence
    To pursue his destiny

    ~Repeat chorus~

There's so much life to be lived in a day
Cherish each second, lest it all slip away
"Carpe diem " is what the folks say
Seize the day in your own special way

In this wonderful realm where each of us stay
There's so much life to be lived in a day
Don't wait for tomorrow, it's too far away
Do it now, maketh haste, don't delay

We can laugh, we can love, we can dance, we can play
There's a whole lot to do, and plenty to say
There's so much life to be lived in a day
So don't let it all slip away

I hope that you get what I want to convey
When the moment is gone, there will be no replay
Viva la vie and come what may
There's much life to be lived in a day.

What is time but a furtive bloom
That arrives too fast and departs too soon?
It's hidden there in stolen glances
    In the passage of years
    And in wild romances
    We seldom see it coming
But we always see it leaving
It's in the river of tears
For the dead we are grieving
Time to a mother, is not a good friend
For in place of our children
    It leaves women and men
Time between lovers is fleeting, at best
    For it renders them old
And it steals all their zest
    Time's an enigma, a query, a mystery
    It's eluded and fooled us
    Since the dawning of history
    Although it's confounding
And it oft keeps us guessing
Make the most of each moment
    For time is a blessing.

The babbling brook did laugh with glee
As it danced and sang right along with me
The smiley sun lent its winsome glow
And warmed all the creatures that dwelled below
A zany zephyr put us all at ease
As it cooled us down with its burgeoning breeze
The day grew tired and dimmed its light
As the steadfast stars kept watch through the night
Graceful Gaia, our provider since birth
    Loved each living being
    All throughout this good Earth.

They say you have to experience darkness to see the stars
    So why didn’t they appear?
    She sat there, ALONE
    Drowning in the darkness
Like a mobile of vicious storm clouds constantly above her head
When were they going to birth the storm?
She longed for the downpour hoping that soon after would be the most gorgeous
    sunshine she has ever seen
A sunshine that would diminish these dark, hungry clouds for good
    But that didn’t happen!
The clouds were heavy and dark with no intention of letting go of the storm it
There they hovered, a constant shadow cast upon her
“SCREAM!” they said, “Spill your feelings, the world will save you.”
    So she did…
She screamed SO loud that her head felt light on her shoulders and her voice
became faint, but still she screamed
But the result of that was the world drowning out her screams, purposely
    muting her.
Her now shaky voice vibrated throughout her body
The shaky voice that involuntarily spat out “What's the use”
The shaky voice that littered her mind with little notes of “Nobody cares
    So she sat.
There in the far corner of the room
Curled into the ball that trapped whatever warmth was left in her body
    She sat
    Sat under the storm clouds
Sat in the arms of darkness
    Sat gazing at the sky
She sat speaking to the moon
The object so close but so, so far; the only thing that truly understood her and
held her pain for a few seconds at a time
She somehow was comforted by these celestial objects more than she ever was
when she spoke to her own kind
Her own kind…the people, those people
Those people who say “You know I’m here for you, okay” and then let you fall
when you need them the most
But, did she expect anything else?
Her soul that glittered in the water it was under, trying to reel in help
Her soul, a once gorgeous flame now an upward marching cotton ball of grey
Still she sat through the silence and the pain that tugged on her tears night after
The tears that her pillow so generously held, her bedroom walls were the only
ones who truly knew what she felt.
She gave up, completely numb to all the things that made a person a person
Dying a little, day by day
But the mask she wore out in public convinced everyone she was FINE
After all, all you need is a nod and a smile to be labelled as content
    But there she sat,
Silently gasping for air whilst crying so no one would know she was breaking
She sat through those never ending nights, those nights that she just could not
    think about sleeping
And yet not once did the thought of sharing her emotions with somebody cross
    her mind
Why would she want to burden anyone with her waves of worry?
    She’s strong, but weak
    She’s warm, but cold
    She’s alive, but dead
    She’s happy, but miserable
She’s holding on, but has given up!
There she sits, head in her hands
    “I’m fine” she repeats
    Like a shattered mirror,
    she can’t be fixed
    She lies in that cage
That cage of a constant whirlwind of emotions
    She’s adapted
    This is her normal now
The never ending loop of pain, tears, silent screams and darkness.
    But still she sat!

    She's happy-go-lucky, seldom forlorn
Her sign is the lion, she's Leo born
She loves cats and dark chocolate, but perhaps not together
She likes when it's warm out, with sun-shiny weather
But wait - then again, she loves a good storm!
With lightning and thunder, while at home, safe and warm
She's familiar with dragons and fairy fae
She loves when the fireflies come out to play
The world is her playground, all people - new friends
She loves a good book, but can't stand when it ends
Desserts are her favorite, and all kinds of food
Most oft, if you see her, she's in a good mood
Her hubby is handsome, her kids are quite grand
She's not one for structure, so she leaves things unplanned
Sometimes she's a rebel, but just now and then
Case in point, this here penning, has more lines than 10.

A fortunately fictional submission to the #cees_greet_chall, hosted on my other account. Thank you for reading!

    by Carolyn Glackin
    A clandestine greeting
    Well beyond closed doors
    Led to a lifetime
    I soon grew to abhor

    In a bright gilded cage
That at first, seemed like bliss
Lo! I should have looked closer
    Alas, I was remiss!

    What a shyster was he!
    So deceitful and cunning
Had I seen things more clearly
    I'd soon have gone running

    So innocent I was
    So naive and unschooled
Thus he swept right on in
And he soon had me fooled

    So stealthy his ways
    So reckless his art
As he stole, piece by piece
From my soul and my heart

    Have faith now, dear friends
For this tale's not yet told
See, I won each piece back
    And I scorned him tenfold!

    I beat him, I did!
    At his very own game!
    Now that man stands alone
With his guilt and his shame

As for me? I'm just fine
    I can hardly complain
I gained back quite a lot
    By losing his name

    Oh yes, love's quite grand
When it's real and it's true
    But when it's a sham
    It can leave you unglued

    So stay true to yourself
And hold fast to your heart
Be your own first true love
    That'll be a good start

    Let no one else in
    Until you're quite sure
    You've found a true gem
    Within him or with her

    For love is a gift
    And a sight to behold
'Tis the love that is true
Can't be bought, can't be sold

    Be wise in your dealings
    Be strong in your heart
And you'll soon find a love
    From which neither will part.

    Dark Memories

It was not me but you.
The day when you were happy as usual
    The monsoon wind blissed,
    The paddlers stopped ,
And in silence you flump on it,
They took you down the street.
Happy as usual you Cherishes the ecstasy
Notes shattered with an empty can kicked off
    The song played, they enjoyed.
The glorious night lights outs with you being drunk apart.
The sound of paddlers came to pick you up.
Black clouds cover the sky and the laughter seems you to be high.
Cigarettes were the things you were in search off.
The paddlers took you to the shop.
Light were down, burking dogs followed the streets.
Time has stopped; you not able to see anything.
Falling apart, the paddlers try to pick you up
Next morning you heard a ringing sound for you to get up.
Eyes opened with tears, the doctor were there to help you to stand up.
With broken legs being fixed the pedlars were not to be seen.
You realised the moment you enjoyed were not Meant to be.
    Everything were scattered,
The night were dark and the memories you Cherish
You realised and called it nothing but to be a dream.

This is a repost of mine (originally written back in November of 2018), that I wanted to share during Pride Month.
Gender is a temporary, transient phase, lasting only for the duration of the incarnated soul's lifetime; because the moment we're free from the physical body we inhabit, we are genderless, as all pure Spirit is. Due to that, such focus and importance need not be placed on gender, all of which should be viewed with equal respect.
Those who choose to change their gender should also be regarded with the same importance, worthiness, and respect; because they are a soul, a living being of divine origin which cannot be defined by or limited to any one particular gender. A spark of the divine is present within them, as much as it is within any of us. Changing their gender neither reduces nor negates that spark.
Happy Pride Month to all, and may all souls be free to live and love however they may so choose. ❤️‍

    For a time, I had a daughter
    Oh, but she was beautiful!
Truly the light of my life!
    She was a living manifestation
Of the constant outpouring of love
That flowed eternally from my soul
    How grateful I was
To have her in my life
Then one day, borne of a desire
    To have the outer world
    More accurately reflect the inner
    My daughter became a son
And oh but he is beautiful!
Truly the light of my life!
    He is the living manifestation
Of the constant outpouring of love
That flows eternally from my soul
    How grateful I am
To have him in my life.

    DAD'S HOME!!
    by Carolyn Glackin
    Rest assured,
    When those words are heard
This household is bursting with life
    The kittens all scurry
    The dog's in a hurry
A smile is seen on the wife
    For all through the day
    While dad is away
Doing the thing that he does
    He's never forgotten
    No, not for one moment
By nary a one of us.
Though our house is quite lovely
And it's warm and it's cozy
Somehow it's just not quite right
    'Til that magical time
At the end of the day
    When dad comes home
    For the night.

There are STILL good people in this world. If you can't find one, please be one. ♥️♥️

    by Carolyn Glackin
There are people who give, without thought of receiving
And folks with great faith, always believing
People who listen, without need to be heard
And those who so often dole out a kind word
There are those who love all, without expectation
And those who save children from bad situations (I call them heroes)
People who cheer us and uplift us each day
Whilst chasing our sadness and blues far away
There are those who check on us, making sure we're alright
And those who pray for us, before bedtime each night
Perhaps they're all angels, dressed up in disguise
They look just like us, but they hail from the skies
Sure, there are bad folks, but those I won't mention
For it does us no good to give them attention
The point that I'm making, which by now, you have heard
Is one worth considering, so please read each word
When it seems that the good is outweighed by the bad
And you're sorely let down by this world that's gone mad
I hope the next notion, in your conscience unfurls:
Be it women or men, be it boys, be it girls
Good folks surround us, in every crowd
We simply don't notice, 'cause they're not very loud
They do what they do, without show or fanfare
Albeit, they're quiet, yet I assure you - they're there.

    Pastel skies bewitched my eyes
    So beauteous was this surprise
The splendor of each shade, so grand
    Pure artistry, by nature's hand!
A touch of pink, I think I've seen
With puffy clouds, oh how serene!
A dab of purple, a bit of blue
    Such merriment, in every hue!
A rosy blush did paint the night
And there it stayed, 'til sun was bright
    As I observed, with gratitude

I'm glad that you're at peace, dear friend
    In a world beyond tomorrow
But here we struggle with the loss
    And grapple with such sorrow

Here we wonder how we'll fill
    The space your absence left
For the silence in that empty space
    Has rendered us bereft

We're struck here by the echoes
    That once your laughter filled
And we still await your writing
In which you were so skilled

Our eyes look for the comments
    You so graciously did pen
And I, for one, cannot accept
That we won't see them again

For our hearts, it's hard to fathom
    That you're forever gone
    As endlessly we seek you
With the coming of each dawn

Here you touched so many lives
    And brightened up our days
You made this world a better place
    In countless little ways

Yet, it seems that for some reason
One that perhaps we'll never know
The Lord saw fit to call you home
Too soon, you had to go

For the death knell hath been tolling
And the hour grows e'er late
    'Twas nothing we could do
To stop the hands of fate

There's a bright light up ahead now
As a soft voice calls your name
And as you take leave of this world
Things here will never be the same

But in our hearts you'll live on
And in our thoughts you'll stay
For the blessing to have known you
Was worth this pain we feel today

    Lo! Heaven's gates now open!
    Oh how the angels sing!
And there stand all the poetic greats
    To greet the haiku king.

Sometimes, the smallness of this world seems huge to me; but then again, so does its bigness
The thought overwhelms me, and I don't really know how to reconcile it in my mind
There's so much to do here, so much yet to be done
I dive deep, swim like mad for a while and then come up for air
I don't waste time thinking about how much is left to be done, because I know I'll be right back at it tomorrow
Instead, I'm simply grateful for the opportunity
The opportunity to do some good, to bring some change, to direct the flow, to dive deep without fear, so that once in a while, I can actually save someone from drowning
There are a lot of near death experiences here; all presumably caused by the largeness and smallness of things, because you wouldn't believe how that stuff tends to weigh on the mind and cause folks to start drowning, right there in the perpetuity of their own self-created puddles
I learned to swim early on though
Didn't matter if I wanted to or not, I didn't have the luxury of choice at the time; and come to think of it, I'm glad I didn't, because I might have said no, and then the two of us would both be drowning, praying like mad for some experienced soul diver to come and save us, and by God, that lot can be mighty hard to find...
You don't have to look too hard for me though, because nowadays I actually like swimming, and I do it often
Sure, I get in too deep now and then, take on a little too much, try to hold on to a few too many, all while knowing I can't possibly help or save them all
I got you though, and I'm not letting go, ok?
'Cause I know there's plenty of air up at the top for both of us; and you know what? We're gonna rise up together! Amen.
