It was February and the air was cold,
It was late at night
My mum said to be back for nine.
But boy was she in for a fright.
Our hands interlocked
As we ran along the sand.
And we talked about how we were
The Queens of a fantasy land.
The crazy things we talked about
As midnight came around,
We lay in silence
With the sea being the only sound.
We talked about a future
Promised to always be with one another
Even though we knew that
No one supported us together
But then the sirens started
And our story got a twist.
I didn’t expect to fall,
To fall into the mist.
Who knew that running with you,
Running with thrill.
Being in love,
Was so deadly, it could kill.
It was February and the air was cold,
It was late at night
And I took my last breath,
After such a wonderful night.
Our hands interlocked,
As my eyes closed on the sand.
I’ll see you soon my love when
We are Queens of a fantasy land

Mad king, his heart of stone,
Wearing tender flowers
On his sleeve, look I found
The flowers in wreaths
At the graves of those he

On the banks of a river is the impressive heritage site falls
Renowned it's known for as
the epitome of love
A promise token and worthy architecture structure was all he bestowed
The emperor claimed himself monarch after a grueling war
His commanding tone was known by all; near and far
The queen asked for a promise, refrain from marriage again
Build a mausoleum, such beautiful that no one will construct the same
The superior couldn't just let go off his dying queen's last wish
A fourteenth child bearing lady made this simple that all would cherish
The monument construction took almost two decades
Limbs of labourers were chopped off to maintain the style's grace
Fountains and garden, marble dome and towers adorn the place
Exquisite and a living historical structure, it's an opportunity to see
it in actual space
Verses and carvings inscribed, red sandstone also there, visit here for sure to recharge
You will be mesmerised by the illustrious monument and say 'Waah Taj'

Recently, the pandemic has offered me the perfect opportunity to binge watch my favorite Netflix series called "Reign." It's a semi-factual portrayal of the life of Queen Mary of Scotland, set in the 16th century. As one would expect, it features all sorts of royals, monarchs, noblemen and women, ladies in waiting, knaves and knights, courtesans, peasants, villains and villagers, friends and foes, the occasional mystic or seer, and even a swashbuckling pirate or two. There's romance, mystery, mayhem, intrigue, luxury, wealth, splendor, poverty and one gripping cliffhanger after another. Now before you go telling me that I'm addicted, I'd like to point out that I'm already well aware of that, thank you! Ahem... Anywhooo, my appreciation for the show led me to an idea for a challenge. Rules to follow.
In 40 lines or LESS (BUT NOT MORE) write an exciting, entertaining, poetic tale about royals/monarchs (including kings, queens, princes, princesses, and any of those other folks I mentioned above). It doesn't have to be factual, but can be if you prefer. I'll provide a suitable word list below that you're welcome to utilize which is optional, not mandatory.
