I guess it’s been close to 7 years since I last ever wrote about my favorite person, superhero, soul or personality. In all honesty, as the years went by and the significance of essays and write-ups like this went overlooked for us, my gut used to cringe seeing even small kids pour their hearts out to this topic. But now, having to write about this in a 3rd Year Bachelor’s degree, Personality Development class, I introspected and realized how fundamentally co-related our favorite might just be with who we are.
I would indeed be playing with semantics, but in all regards of truth and honesty, my favorite has to be the Self-Actualizer. Yes, I know. Hierarchy of Needs and maybe the topic might have pointed to a person. But practically, that can’t be. Let me tell you how and why.
I’m not thinking about Maslow and or any other ecologist, psychologist or neuro-stuff here. Its just as simple as trying to understand yourself and others, for a better intention. I myself googled the word self-actualization which means basically the desire, realization, propensity and attainment of one’s full potential and purpose and appreciating and celebrating life. If I had to Google it, then in reality all I thought about was something simpler.
I was watching the show Lucifer the other day, and spoiler alert, I realized something. When Amenadiel talks to his father, God literally, he realizes from the latter’s thoughts and his own experience that maybe his father had started self-actualizing and thinking twice which had made God doubt his own abilities. And now, its god, I know, but the point has been presented from a human aspect, and self-actualization is easy to continue and very difficult to begin.
We keep saying that we stand for what’s right, and definitely our actions speak positivity and hope the loudest. But occasionally, we fail to realize that its something comes naturally to a human. Hence the word HUMANITY has been associated with it. And rejecting that for fear, now that’s inhumanly. I have seen instances where I’ve been unclear on my path and might have made a mistake, I have been told by the person that he/she doesn’t care. No, we would not help, we are more important. Us, us and US. Definitely, I understand. Help yourself and only then will you be able to figure out with intelligence, spirit and consistency about how to help others. But the way we shove off people, that not right. Because there’s no use of saying I did that to make you stronger, because at my lowest, I needed you and you let me down. Self-actualize and help others. We arent perfect by any means but yes, it’s important to constantly find a way to strengthen ourselves. But isn’t beyond a certain North, South. Why can’t we stop for just a minute, and think about what actually is happening.
I have seen people including myself, if it looks like I’m boasting so be it, stop and think about what we do. We might not find a way out, but we know we’re alive. And thus, we haven’t lost the game called LIFE yet. We lose when we die, and we might fall but we don’t bow. There are people who might need a hand or heart, and if we have to go out of our way to do so, I think its worth it. No one knows how that ends up, and neither do we if we don’t try.
Yes, we might overthink, but in the end what matters is who you are and who you really want to be. So, self-actualizer. Nah, just a normal human being. So hey, I got you. We all do. Let’s show it, because there are issues which make us think twice so why don’t we take a deep breath and think about what’s important. Not to worry, our mind isn’t as overrated and stupid as we think. What can we do, if we wanted stairs but got pedestals? Try not to fall and aim for the sky, and even if we do, get back up again. That’s my favorite personality, Human.
