Read MoreSo it was the last day of our college, in the sense our theory class. So it was the chemistry hour and our lecturer asked us to take out a pen and a piece of paper. She then asked us to list the top 10 priorities/things/people you value in your life, it could be a thing to which you're attached to or a plant or a person .... literally anything. She asked us to cover the answer and told us that even she wouldn't check it. She gave us 10 mins & trust me I had never seen my class so serious (LOL) like literally every one were thinking so hard. Then finally after 15 mins she asked if anyone wanted to share their list ...none of them came forward. Then she asked if all these people were in the list - parents, siblings, family, pet, bestfriend etc etc....then she fell silent for a minute and then she asked - " now tell me, how many of you have added your own name?" Guess what?! Just 2 out of 74 students had added their name. The whole class went like WOAHHHHHH!!!
THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT SHOOK ME FROM INSIDE.
She went on -" Students i know that thinking about yourself might sound selfish, but it's not. You need to put yourself in the first position if not the atleast in the third position. You can only take care of others if you take care of yourself. You can only believe others if you believe in yourself. You can only love others if you love yourself. Students so please atleast from now start thinking about yourself and love yourself.
At this stage everythin in the world may seem to be flowery but there are the darkest faces out there. Don't trust each n every one. Life after this will be filled with so many hurdles.''
She further added - "Thank you for giving me the best two years in my teaching career. Thank you for making me laugh and I'm sorry if I've hurt you .
I know I've been strict at times (teary eyed)
But trust me I don't have any hatred for you in my heart. I might not remember your names in the future, as I usually remember the troublemakers.��
Thank you and all the best. Be sure you be happy in future with whatever job you take up. And remember your health comes first then the wealth."
This one session had a huge impact on me where I actually realised a lot. I realised I really never thought about myself. Ofcourse she was a great lecturer .
Most of them had their emo- moment and the girl beside me started crying to which my lecturer also Started crying.
It was a session filled with emotions, realisation and a goodbye.

Global Warming is Real
Intro.
There you have it! People are cutting trees because they want to gain space for their homes. The forests are getting smaller and smaller, and smaller! because of the buildings here and there. Then it becomes everywhere! In the past, imagine how you felt when it was summer? You want to feel the sun kissed, am I right? Kids are playing outside, and there is no need to worry because they won’t get sunburn. But now, what can you say? Is it still safe to go outside without hurting our skin from the sunlight? Global warming is a real thing. The name is self-explanatory; it refers to an increase in the Earth’s climate.

The Crowd
When she finally spoke it wasn’t with her words. She spoke with such fire in her eyes. One spark could start ablaze with fury. Although she hadn’t said a word yet, the people were warned. A sharp yet powerful voice then emerged. Sternly & very intense most knew what came next. She stood behind the podium confident & positive she had herself under control. Considerably numb, standing & shaking. The best part was yet to come. The crowd awaited her speech.
They saw her stammering with words. Not for long, she kept speaking overcoming her fears of the crowd. She realized they focused on her. They were there to support her. That was all the reassurance she had needed. In the end, she got used to speaking publicly. She feared no more. Her weakness brought great strength. She grew stronger each time.

TERRIFYING HEIGHTS

Henry hurries to pack his things for his 2pm flight he had booked a week ago. He worries that he may not arrive in time to catch the flight and may therefore have to cancel his trip but there is a lot riding on the trip. He is being transferred to the Danish Headquarters of his company and it is pertinent that he arrives as soon as possible and reports to both the Assistant Chairman of the Denmark territory of Flenchly Company Int'l, a conglomerate of household items producers and the personnel department of same.
Arriving the airport an hour to take off time, he checks in and goes to take a seat while waiting for the plane to be readied for boarding. He feels really pumped about the trip and cannot wait to see what surprises await him at his new position in Denmark as Chief of External Relations. He is aware it would be a great shift, turning a lot of things both upside down and right side up for him but he is prepared for the challenge.
The flight announcer announces over the airport speaker. 'DenAir Flight 635DA to Denmark is currently boarding. Please, all passengers proceed for boarding,' the announcer says with a voice so sweet it makes Henry smile. He however feels indifferent as he is married and would have wife and kids joining him later in Denmark once he is properly settled. He joins the queue as they are marched towards the airplane through the escalator stairway. Few seconds later, he is finally on the plane seated beside a young man probably in his early 30s who he would later realize has the name, Richard. Henry flashes a smile out of courtesy and shakes Richard's hand sturdily in the spirit of communality. The kind of smile that seems so reassuring.
A few seconds later, the flight begins taxi as the pilots turn on 'the fasten your seatbelts for take-off' signal. After taxiing for about a minute, the plane finally takes off and the 'fasten your seatbelt for take off' signal is turned off. Everyone is smiling and enjoying the flight until suddenly, a passenger screams as if being stabbed by something. It is Henry's in-flight seatmate, Richard. He seems to be really uncomfortable, sweating so profusely as though he is in some kind of boiling water. Richard usually feels such way traveling by air hence he had not done so in years but only attempted this with the impression that his aerophobia was gone permanently but he is wrong. Right now, he feels his heart slowing down as a result of the panicking.
'Land the plane!!!,' Henry screams as he tries to keep Richard from suffocating by doing all he can to calm him down. Henry seems so worried about Richard. Would he have to watch Richard die before his eyes in his perfectly ironed suit, wonderful perfume and nice black shoes? He would not have Richard be buried when he looks so dapper, just because of a flight. Henry quickly leaves Richard to go to the cockpit to ascertain if the plane has been landed as he had earlier kindly requested. Surely it has landed but in an open field. He quickly asks the pilot before he goes back to Richard to assist him off the plane,
'Kindly contact the paramedics and give our location out to them immediately'. He feels paranoid that Richard's case may deteriorate further, probably to the point of death but he is wrong as in a matter of a minute after Richard is brought off the plane into the open air, he feels much better.
The paramedics arrive shortly after in an ambulance, escorted by two police squad cars and two police motorbikes, advising the flight crew and passengers against taking Richard up in the air again on the grounds of chronic aerophobia. Briefing the crew and passengers in the open air, the chief of the Emergency Management Team (EMT), Capt. Donald Brian says,
'First of all, I would like to thank you the first aiders for your selfless service and determined resolve to save the life of this man here. Even though, you all clearly have somewhere to be at hence the reason you are on this flight but that did not deter you from allowing the flight to be brought down in the middle of nowhere just to make sure the young man does not die. We thank you very much.
Unfortunately, Mr. Richard here has a phobia for flight as I am sure you have all ascertained by now so he would not be following you to Denmark. We will probably look for an alternative means to get him there. We would probably drive him there in the EMT convoy or we'll put him on a ship and if he has hydrophobia as well, we'll then have to put him on an air ambulance to Denmark so they can tend to his phobia whenever it arises mid-air. As for the rest of you, do have a safe flight to Denmark. Thank you.'
Everyone gives a resounding applause. They are happy that they would be able to continue the flight to Denmark even though they would arrive pretty late. They board the plane again and take off with an EMT personnel acting as the adhoc Air Traffic Controller. The flight takes off with an irregular taxiing as a result of the environment hence almost causing a crash but for the expertise of the pilots.
Two hours later, they make a touchdown at the Bornholm International Airport, Denmark. Safely landed at the airport, Henry cannot help but wonder how his new friend and seatmate on the plane, Richard would be doing at the moment and if he has made it to Denmark as the Chief of the EMT had assured them. Really concerned about how Richard would be doing, he goes to the Den Air Service Station and addressing the lady behind the counter he says,
'Excuse me....Ms. Abigail', he says picking her name off her name tag on her left breast-pocket.
'Good evening and welcome sir', she says with a wide and bright smile. 'How may I be of help to you today?'
Henry replicates the smile. 'Thank you very much....Please I would like to inquire about a passenger's information. We were on the same flight some few hours ago but he seemed to be stricken by aerophobia so we had to have him alight from the plane to follow an alternative means but I am sure his contact information should be in your PNR list. Please can you kindly check for Richard Crawson on your Passenger Listing for flight 635DA from New Zealand? Thank you very much'
She declines his request with a smile stressing that it is against the airline's privacy policy to give out their passenger's contact without authorization from the passenger himself or herself. Realizing it is not possible, he backs down without uttering another word as he goes away to the parking lot to await the vehicle that would be sent from Flenchly Conglomerate in his new district in Denmark.
In about ten minutes, the vehicle arrives. He gets up from the gossip chair underneath a cool cover just outside the airport lounge and walks towards it slowly, as if hoping and praying that the lady at the desk would change her mind and come running to him with Richard's phone number but again he is wrong as she does not. Perhaps he would run into him at a later date. He instructs the driver, Mr. Albion to step on the gas and take him to the office immediately for his welcome tour to begin as soon as possible.

ACTION OF HAPPINESS
Everything in this environment is connected or depend on on something else It is important that we help those people who need our help because no matter how small our help is, it can surely make a huge difference in other people’s life. every good thing we do will someday come back to us because this is the only way life works.
Helping others is not only good for them and a good thing to do, it also makes us happier and healthier too. Giving also connects us to others, creating stronger communities and helping to build a happier society for everyone.
Helping others is not always about financially supporting them. At some time it’s about giving them an extra hand while they are struggling with something. Listening to others when you feel someone is feeling lonely with someone who is starving for days. A small action can be taken by giving your bus seat to someone who needs it more than you, helping people with directions or crossing roads.
Doing things for others - whether small, unplanned acts or regular undertaking - is a powerful way to boost our own happiness as well of those around us. The people we help may be strangers, family, friends, colleagues or neighbours, someone needy. They can be old or young, nearby or far away.
Scientific studies show that helping others boosts happiness. It increases life satisfaction, provides a sense of meaning, increases feelings of competence, improves our mood and reduced stress. It can help to take our minds off our own troubles too. helping to others helps us connect with people
IT is not important that if you help people so they will too help you as sometime they are not able to help us back. So help people even you know that they can’t help you back. Helping others is the sauce to a happy life

A Good Deed is one act. big or small of kindness which makes life a wee bit
easier for someone other than you Acts of kindness can be so many that you
actually do not have to plan it or think about it too much All you need to do is
be good at heart and when the occasion presents itself be sure to act it is not
good enough to be moved by the miseries of others without pitching in to
help. A good deed is something that should come naturally to you so much
so that you do not think about it after it is done Helping a child cross the road
stopping to give directions to a person who is lost running errands for your
old neighbor soothing a hurt child the list of good deeds are endless
Small niceties tead to good deeds if you give someone the right of way or
smile when you enter an elevator you are being polite and soon this very
habit of just being rice will be synonymous with just being you and
unknowingly you will be doing many good deeds without effort and without
any expectations whatsoever Just think how much better this world will be
because of you!!!!!

Here is goodbye to Ramadan and Alhamdulillah to Eid.
The Prophet(s) said: "Angels on the day of Eid stand at the alleys and paths and say, "rush to the Generous Lord who gives great blessings and forgives great sins".
In some Eids, Imam Ali (r.a) said, "This is Eid of the one, God has accepted his fasting and worships, and everyday in which God is not disobeyed is Eid".
Also, as narrated/authority of Anas Ibn Malik, Allah's Apostle never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of Eid-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates.
And also narrated: The Prophet used to eat odd number of dates.
Do not forget the two recommended nafilah before Eid and obligated sending of blessing and gratitude to Allah SWT. Wearing nice clothes, smelling nice, exchanging greetings, visiting friends and family, and smiling beautifully.
May we meet the next Ramadan in good faith and health. Aameen.

Ramadan Series 29
Zakat occupies the third position of the fundamentals of Islam, the first being kalimatul shahada and the second which is prayer (salat). The word is derived from Zakd, which means it (a plant) grew. It also carries the sense of purification. And in the Qur'an and hadith, the word used for zakat is sadaqah which is derived from sidq (the truth).
The Prophet (on him be peace), specifically called the Ramadan Fast-Breaking Alms "Zakat" and the Qur'an says: And duly establish the Salah-Prayer and give the Zakat-Charity, (Suratul-Baqarah 2:110 and Suratul-Nisa' 4:77).
Ibn Umar narrated that: Allah's Apostle enjoined the payment if one Sa'i of dates or one Sa'i of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Eid prayer, (Sahih Bukhari).
Zakat-ul-Fitr is to the month of Ramadan like the prostration of forgetfulness is to prayer. It makes up for the deficiencies in fasting just as the prostration makes up for deficiencies in prayer (as reported by An-Nawawi, said by Waki' ibn al-Jarrah).
Do not forget to pay your Zakat.

Ramadan Series 28
Ramadan is about to leave, and none of us know if this will be out last or if we still have some more to witness.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal, it is as if they fasted the entire year", (Muslim).
In another hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan and then six days after Eid, it is an entire year. Whoever does a good deed shall have ten times its reward", (Ibn Majah).
So here is to one who wants to quench the burning flame of the thirst of reward. You can satiate it by sprinkling it with six days from Shawwal. But do not forget to repay your missed fasts.
May Allah SWT make it easy for us all. Aameen.

What plans do you have after Ramadan? What goodness do you seek to keep striving for after Ramadan is gone? Most of us put a halt to all the good we learnt and all the ibadah we exhibited. Do not be good just because it is, and it was Ramadan. Nurtue your faith especially after Ramadan. Remember, in Ramadan, the gates of Heaven is opened, and that of Hell closed, the devil is chained and the reward of each of our good deed is multiplied.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The most excellent month after Ramadan is God's month, "Al-Muharram" and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night", (Sahih Muslim).
Know that, it is sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) to fast in every of the month, but fasts a complete month only in that of Ramadan. The reward of each fast is only known to Allah SWT because it is His.
Do not leave your luggage behind to fade away with Ramadan. Carry it deep in your heart, filled with goodness.
May Allah Azzawajallah make it easy for us. Aameen.

Ramadan Series 26
Islam encourages us and makes it an obligation on us to uphold the ties of kinship. It is a duty on everyone of us as Allah SWT said in the following surahs:
1) "And those who break the Covenant of Allah, after its ratification, and sever that which Allah has commanded to be joined (that is, they sever the bond of kinship and are not good to their relatives), and work mischief in the land, on them is the curse (that is, they will be far away from Allah's Mercy); And for them is the unhappy (evil) home (that is, hell), (Ar-Ra'd 13:25).
2) "........and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship).........", (An-Nisa'4:1).
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever would like his rizq (provision) to be increased and his life to be extended, should uphold the ties of kinship", (Bukhari and Muslim).
This is a very good month and time for us to rekindle and ignite the light in our kinship. May Allah SWT guide us. Aameen.

To the last Friday of Ramadan.
Abu Hurairah reported that: The Prophet (peace be upon him) ascended the pulpit and said, "Ameen, Ameen, Ameen". It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, you ascended the pulpit and said Ameen, Ameen, Ameen". The Prophet said; "Verily, Gabriel(Jibril) came to me and he said: 'Whoever reaches the month of Ramadan and he is not forgiven, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say Ameen. I said Ameen; Whoever sees their parents in their old age, one or both of them, and he does not honour them and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say Ameen. I said Ameen; Whoever heard your name mentioned in his presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say Ameen. I said Ameen'.
In few more breaths, Ramadan will be all gone. What have you done or achieved? What has changed in you? What is that thing you will want to show your Rabb if given an opportunity?
You and I still have time to make us of the Month before it is gone.
May Allah Azzawajallah guide our path. Aameen.
