Etymology is the study of the origin of words and how the meaning of words has changed over the course of history. Let’s get meta and take the word “etymology” as an example. “Etymology” derives from the Greek word etumos, meaning “true.”

    Cappuccino (Origin: Italian/German)
Next time you’re trying to flirt with someone at your local coffee shop, impress them with this whimsical anecdote about the origin of the word cappuccino: it’s the diminutive form of the word cappuccio, which means “hood” in Italian. Wondering what the link is between a (little) hood and a cappuccino? One must look no further than the Capuchin Monks, whose hooded habits were a dark, oak brown similar to the color of a good cappuccino.

    Cappuccino

    Aromas of cappuccino inherent me
Whether it's a latte or dark cappuccino?
    My coffee awaits my mouth
Wanna sip it slow and relish each drop!
But alas a cap awakens my tastes
It's the *Hood* again! The dark horse returns
Hooded man; thought he was gone but nope
The hoodie haunts the cafe I visit
    Brown cloak; what lays under?
Scintillating aromas in cafe with a mystic
As the hoodie sits on my table!
Takes a sip from my cappuccino
Is he spitting something in it?
    Sweet sugary or some venom??
Shall I drink that coffee now ?
    The hoodie disappeared my gosh!
Was it my hallucinations due to the coffee?
    Another cup of coffee served,
as I discontinued my previous cup ...
The hood still sends a chill down my spine
    Every time I have cappuccino!
Coffee mug lover and eyes search ~
I awoke from my dream #ooff nightmares
Hug my pillow and sleep again!
