    A Little What If

Once she looked at the stars and wondered if someone sprinkled a little glitter on the dark sky as the moon was feeling lonely.

Once she looked at the clouds and wondered if the clouds were tired of aimlessly wandering in the sky and just wanted to rest on the Earth for a while.

Once she looked at the snow and wondered if snow was tired of pretending to be strong, only to melt at the touch of warmth.

And every day she spent in this life, she wondered if being a little kinder was the point of it all.

    Terrible Maths

Once upon a time, Day and Night fell in love with each other, beyond reasons and logic. But such was the cruel destiny, that they get a lifespan of 24 hours only. And they could meet only once during the evening in each lifetime.

Even this one meeting, came at a huge cost. Before they meet, Day agreed to burn in anticipation. And after they meet, Night agreed to suffer the pain of separation.

Seasons changed. In Summers, sunset would be late and the waiting period would be longer for Day. In Winters, Night would suffer a slower death with longer period of separation.

It's only 2 days in a year, when days and nights would be of equal duration. Day waits for the exact same time as night suffers. On all the other days, only one of the two pays a higher price. And yet, Day always makes the journey to Night and Night always picks it up when Day leaves. Probably it's this choice that keeps them going.

But they fail to keep a count. Love does terrible at maths.

    All That Isn't

Of countless cheerful waves at the shore
And just as many tsunamis hidden within
The ocean is made up of all that is
    And all that isn't.

Of the ambitious stars in glorious nights
And just as many shadows on the moon
The sky is made up of all that is
    And all that isn't.

Of the ecstasy in the beautiful future to come
And just as many failures left in the past
Life is made up of all that is
    And all that isn't.

Of all the times I will cross oceans to please you
And just as many times I will choose not to
Love, my darling, is made up of all that is
    And all that isn't.

    Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Do you think the stars do much more than twinkle?

Could they be guarding the broken promises, singing the forgotten lullabies and mending the devastated dreams?

Could they be watching over the lost souls, healing the lone warriors and tucking in the wanderers for few hours before sunrise?

Could they be keeping the lamps burning in the darkness just to whisper, "You are not alone"? Is it yet another reminder from the Universe to keep faith alive even in the darkest hours?

    I often think so.

    Choices

It's just a small realisation that,

Everytime someone has loved me has made a choice to do so in a world that has known brutal heartbreaks.

Everytime someone has been kind to me has made a choice to do so in a world that has witnessed violent wars.

And everytime someone has trusted me has made a choice to do so in a world that deals with terrible uncertainties.

But sometimes, it's just this realisation that keeps my faith in humanity.
For it all comes down to choices like these.

    Anatomy of Forever

She looked at the stars and asked me.
What is forever made up of?

It's made up of broken promises of the waves.
And an attempt of the seashore to do better every time.

It's made up of the choices the sun makes.
And the ones moon never gives up on.

It's made up of the ruins of storms and hurricanes.
And the shimmer of the rainbow in the horizon.

It's made up of the success and failure.
And the courage to always begin again.

For it's the circle of life.
That's what forever is made up of. I said.

    Depth

Those who have been in the deep waters and fallen in love with it, they don't really have an easy life on land.

They have learnt to embrace the storms and the ruin that comes with it. You can often find adventure in their eyes. No matter where they are, they answer to the call of the Ocean.

Depth is what they live for. That kind of love is deep enough to define the depth of the Ocean herself.
Freedom is what they live by. That kind of love is strong enough to set you free to your own adventures.

To live shallow, is not for them.
To love shallow, is not for them.

    It Will Be Alright

To reach from one point to another, an object must move. And move in the right direction. Speed is important, so is the direction.
So it said, in my Physics lessons.

    So you see, dear heart!
Be ready to start and do your best.
And move in the direction that's right for you,
    That's true to you.

As long as you continue to show up,
    We'll be there someday.
As long as you have the right direction,
    We'll be there someday.

    And it will be alright!

    Trouble

For all the times you tried hard and still lost,
And learnt the harshest lessons life had to teach,
If Kindness was not the point of it all,
    Then we are in trouble.

For all the times you fell down covered in dirt,
And learnt to dust yourself off the ground,
If Compassion was not the point of it all,
    Then we are in trouble.

For all the times you looked at fear in the eye,
And kept walking on the path that's true to you,
If Love was not the point of it all,
    Then we are in trouble.

    It Helps

    Do remember to look around.
Open your eyes and look around.
If you do, you shall find.
No matter what you face right now,
Life could always have been worse.

You have come a long way already.
    It helps to stay grateful.

    Do remember to look up.
Open your eyes and look up.
If you do, you shall find.
No matter what you face right now,
    Life can always get better.

You still have a long way to go.
    It helps to stay hopeful.
